Energy Team
Scottish Enterprise's Energy Team works across the oil and gas, power generation and renewable energy sectors. It promotes and develops these sectors through supporting technology development and demonstrator projects, helping companies diversify their business base, advising on international opportunities and working to build critical mass in key energy sectors.

Energy Technology Centre (ETC) Supporting Sustainable Energy Innovation

Based in Central Scotland, with a nation wide network, the ETC supports the development and commercialisation of low carbon energy technologies, by providing:

  • An independent development, testing and demonstration environment

  • Specialist test and measurement equipment and expertise

  • A flexible pool of independent technical and commercial experts

  • Support to develop collaborative ventures through a network of advisors, suppliers and potential customers

  • Links into Scotland's key centres of low carbon energy research and development capability

  • Signposting to further support and funding for development projects


Scottish Enterprise (East Operations) – has within its boundaries the area of Fife. Fife enjoys a strategic location in the central area of Scotland, as it lies on the edge of the capital city of Edinburgh and is within easy reach of Edinburgh's International Airport. Fife is excellently placed as an investment location for businesses and specifically those operating in all sectors of energy. Its main towns include Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes, and Dunfermline and of course the world renowned home of golf; St Andrews. Fife is the home of the Scottish Hydrogen demonstration centre – The Hydrogen Office project. (Fife also hosts a number of hi-tech companies including St Andrews Fuel Cell Ltd, Qteknology Ltd, Fife Energy Ltd, SSE, Scottish Power and Plurion Ltd, as well as the University of St Andrews with its world class Chemistry and Physics schools.
