This is a hybrid thermochemical-electrochemical system whereby a cheap metal catalyst is oxidised in a separate hydrolyser and then reduced in the electrolyser before circulating back again. The system has ultra-high system efficiency (>90%, high dynamic response, and ability to store energy and ‘hydrogen on demand’ within the system to obviate the requirement for ranks of batteries and/or storage. This massively lowers the LCOH.
