TÜV SÜD
TÜV SÜD offers testing, inspection, certification, technical due diligence and advisory services to the entire hydrogen supply chain, from production through transport to storage and use.
These services are provided by our UK wide team, and ISO 17025 accredited test labs in Scotland, the Midlands and on the south coast to ensure compliant, safe and efficient operation of hydrogen based systems.
Specific examples of these services include: “Hydrogen readiness” assessments and certification of gas turbines and other equipment, electrolyser certification, pipeline and process safety assessment, hydrogen refuelling station (HRS) testing and auditing, fuel cell certification, component and material testing (e.g. permeability, degradation, etc), fuel cell certification, carbon footprint and life cycle assessments, and green/blue/low carbon hydrogen certification to demonstrate the sustainable nature of hydrogen.
Furthermore, through our TÜV SÜD National Engineering Laboratory division, we are also the UK’s Designated Institute for Flow Measurement, part of the National Measurement System funded by DSIT. Our ISO 17025 accredited flow and density laboratory is the one of the world’s foremost facilities for these measurements, and the holds the UK’s Physical National Reference Standards, which includes flow standards for hydrogen and carbon dioxide for CCUS. We can provide testing under hydrogen and carbon dioxide, across a wide range of process conditions, of almost any device that requires flow of these gases, and various mixtures.
ESP is securing future hydrogen skills in Scotland through our Hydrogen Training Network recognising the immense potential hydrogen has a clean energy carrier in Scotland’s energy sector. We have taken proactive action to address the emerging need for skilled hydrogen professionals directly supporting the upskilling of training staff and industry. Through strategic partnerships with industry, Government, agencies and other academic institutions we have developed a programme of activity in hydrogen skills.
